Psychotherapy

I am a Licensed Master Social Worker and practice at Eastern Door Counseling Center in Rensselaer, New York, where I see adolescents and adults.

I treat individuals with anxiety and depression, as well as those going through major life changes or transitions with all of the emotional experiences this can bring. Many times, people come knowing something is ‘off’, but unable to identify what that is, which is also perfectly fine!

I have an integrative approach and work primarily out of acceptance and mindfulness-based and psychodynamic approaches. But what does this mean? Our past, particularly our childhood organizes our brains, which then organizes the way in which we engage and interpret the world. Healing then comes from both growing our psychological flexibility and emotional capacities to handle the experiences that we encounter, as well as understanding how our brains are organized, and when we grow in understanding, we are able to make more conscious and intentional choices about the life that we want to live. Understanding that everyone is the expert on their own life, I journey alongside people as a companion to work toward healing and integration.

While I do not have a religious approach to my therapeutic practice, for those for whom a spiritual dimension (of any form) is important and a source of strength, I am particularly open to including this in the treatment process however an individual might desire. In all things, I seek to be open and welcoming to whatever people bring, and help them to make steps to where they want to go.

I am currently able to take the following insurances: Aetna, Cigna, CDPHP, Fidelis Care, and United Healthcare. Private pay options are also available on a sliding scale.

Reaching out for therapy can be intimidating, but it is an important step on the journey of healing and wholeness. If you’re interested in exploring working with me, reach out and we can schedule a consultation.

As an LMSW, I work under the supervision of Keli Rugenstein, LCSW-R.
